The Third Quest Virtual Training
Robust Outcomes for Adolescent Poor Readers
We can remediate reading problems before students leave our schools.
Currently, 32 million adult Americans are functionally illiterate.
130 million read below a 6th-grade reading level.
Special Education Student, High School, New Mexico—
A Big Deal
In the last few months I went from 100 words per minute to 130 words per minute. I know it doesn't seem like much, but imagine a kid who can't spell very well and who can't read very well being able to spell better and read faster. It's the best feeling ever.

Routines, Gains, Virtual Fun
We are really enjoying getting back into the routine. Students are making gains in fluency and accuracy. I apologized for the first (virtual) lesson taking a long time—tech problems and the executive functioning issues, but one student piped up with, “This has been so much fun!”
Dear Colleagues:
We are with you—working to bridge the gap for our adolescent struggling readers. Because our most fragile readers often read too poorly to benefit from online learning, this may be the perfect time to teach them the skills they need to become independent readers.
MOTIVATING REMEDIATION
Our initial goal is remediation so students can graduate with the literacy skills needed to obtain and sustain jobs. The Third Quest is doing this!

What Is The Third Quest?
The Third Quest is a comprehensive versus targeted reading intervention. Students receive daily instruction in Vocabulary, Word Study (phonics), Content Knowledge, Comprehension, and Fluency. Proven to work at both Tiers 2 and 3, The Third Quest is highly motivating for students who have plateaued and given up hope of becoming competent readers.

Moving the Dial for At-Risk Students
This intervention moved the dial for our at-risk students. Cliffhangers make them want to keep coming back for more! We knew we found something special when students signed up voluntarily for a second term.
